Everything I have discovered to now points to our Kerber ancestors being merchants and hotel owners and managers in West Prussia.
Two of the three sons who came to America became farmers. Louis grew crops and raised farm stock and birds like chickens. Frederick grew fruit. How? How and from whom did they learn their occupations?
My Grandpa Herman Kerber Sr. and his brothers learned growing up on the farm.
Louis Jr took over the original farm and his son then ran the farm until he retired. He had no children to take over and so the farm and land was sold after over one hundred years.
But there is one in our family who keeps on the tradition, Robert Henry Kerber - my first cousin Bob.
I can't describe it really, but it makes me so happy and I know our Grandpa would be happy. However, if he were alive today he would be out directing Bob how to do everything just so hahahaha. Isn't that right Bob?
